The Best Ever Simple Sweet and Sour Sauce


makes about 4 cups

¼ cup/38g cornstarch
¼ cup water 
6 ounces/170ml pineapple juice
6 ounces/170ml water
½ cup/100g brown sugar, packed
½ cup/113g granulated sugar
¾ cups apple cider vinegar
½ cup ketchup
1 tablespoon soy sauce

In a small bowl whisk ¼ cup cornstarch and ¼ cup water until combined. Set aside. 

In a medium saucepan, over medium-high heat, combine remaining ingredients. Whisk to combine.  Bring sauce to a boil, cook for one minute.  Add cornstarch mixture and cook until thick and shiny, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.   Set aside until ready to use.
