Yields 6 slices of bread
6 home baked, firm slices of white bread
1/2 cup (114 g) butter
3 cups (336 g) shredded Canadian Gouda or
2 tbsp (30 ml) fresh parsley minced
Bake bread rounds in a 200 °F (90 °C) oven for 45 minutes, directly on oven rack. Turn oven off and leave toast in closed oven for 1 hour.
Melt butter in a big frying pan, on low. Add toast and cook, turning, until golden brown on both sides. Sprinkle with cheese and parsley and bake under grill until golden brown. Serve hot.
