Apple-Cucumber Refresher







Adults who consume apples, apple juice and applesauce are 27 percent less likely to be diagnosed with metabolic syndrome, a cluster of risk factors linked to chronic illnesses such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. We paired the goodness of apples with cucumbers and basil in this refreshing drink

1 cup (250 mL) apple juice
1/4 cup (60 mL) unsweetened applesauce
1 English cucumber, peeled and chopped
Juice from half a lemon
2 basil leaves, torn
1 handful ice cubes
Blend all ingredients together.

Nutritional information 
Serves two.
Per serving: 86 calories, 1 g protein, 1 g fat (0 g saturated fat), 21 g carbohydrates, 1 g fibre, 0 mg cholesterol, 7 mg sodium
